Jada Pinkett Smith Talks Sex With Her Daughter and Mom

Actress Jada Pinkett Smith, along with her daughter Willow Smith and mother Adrienne Banfield Norris, spoke candidly about sex and sexuality and what they have learned about themselves in their journeys of self-discovery.

Jada, Willow and Adrienne revealed some interesting information during their weekly Facebook talk show which explored how different generations view sex.

From addiction to shame and monogamy, they shared thought-provoking secrets.

Dealing With Addiction

Although she's one half of one of Hollywood's favourite power couple Jada said long before she married Will Smith, she went through a phase of abstaining from men but exploring her body through using sex toys. Reflecting on this time, she confessed to feeling it was an addiction. "I had a lot of experience with sex toys. I don't miss it at all. I was really into it at some point. Just because I was in an exploration stage and I was abstaining from men. I think I kind of one went through an addiction at some stage." Dealing with this problem was a commitment Smith felt she had to make in order to enjoy her life. "One day I was just like 'enough'. Pinkett said it was getting too much and when she realised it was a problem she knew she had to stop.

Overcoming Shame

Smith mom, and Willow's grandmother, Adrienne, confessed that she went through a long period of having negative feelings about sex due to a sheltered upbringing. Her own mom's teachings led to her being unable to enjoy sexual experiences. "Her teaching to me was that boys are dirty, don't let them put their tongues in your mouth. So everything was from a very negative point of view to scare me. The demons in the back of my mind are telling me, no you shouldn't be doing that, good girls don't enjoy sex."

Looking back, she says healing came over time as she had to learn to normalise sex. Today, she's able to share and talk with no shame. "I think the freedom came over time. A couple of years ago I was talking to my girlfriends about sex toys and I had never had any experience with sex toys and they were like you don't know what you are missing."

Not Made for Monogamy

Willow, the youngest member of the talk show confessed to feeling that monogamy was not for her. "That feeling that you're my one and my only, there's no one else. For me, that would not work," she said.

Their conversation led to discussing how millennials are a lot more liberal and that it was no longer frowned upon if a woman had multiple sexual partners. The young star had wise words of advice for the stereotypical 'slut'; saying that there's no need for a stigma.

"She's just a regular girl. You just need to keep yourself healthy," Willow said.
