Cassper Nyovest's Weight-Loss Journey

Not only did rapper Cassper Nyovest make history by filling up FNB Stadium at a capacity of over 60 000 people, he has made a complete body transformation.

The rapper had his annual Fill Up series where he performed at the FNB Stadium at the weekend, and became the only South African to perform in front of that many people.

Ahead of his performance at the weekend Cassper decided to lose 10kgs and get in shape for the historic performance.

Cassper has been working with a personal trainer for months to be in the best shape for his performance which took place on 2 December. In addition to his trainer he has partnered with Bar-One to help them launch their gym squad finale.

"BAR.ONE invited the artist to be the host of our finale because we found his weight loss journey inspiring and relatable to our consumers and Gym Squad members. Cassper Nyovest represents the ordinary guy that lives a balanced lifestyle and despite his busy schedule, still finds time to work out," said Zanele Mthethwa, Nestle South Africa's head of chocolate.

Of his weight-loss Cassper said: "The key is consistency! It doesn't get easier, you just get stronger." He said he was on a mission to get better everyday. During a recent interview with Channel24, Cassper revealed his secrets: diet, knowing yourself, exercise and research.

1. Diet:  “Watching what you eat is the most important thing. I read something that says you either eat to live or die. Most of the time we’re eating to die cause we don’t even know what we’re putting in our bodies.”

2. Know yourself: “We don’t know our blood types. We don’t know what we’re supposed to be eating. So you need to really research and go for tests and check your body, and find out what your body needs and what it lacks and what it does not consume.”

3. Exercise: “Exercise as much as you can. Some people are skinny but they’re unhealthy.”

4. Research: “Just read as much as you can on health.”
